Interceding For The End of Abortion

Abortion has been legal in the United States since 1973 with the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade.  Since that time, literally millions of babies have been slaughtered in the womb.  While people want to argue about which lives matter, babies everyday are being killed for the simple reason that they exist.  The untold slaughter of the unborn in the United States and around the world is a stench to a holy God who cannot tolerate such evil.  We see the effects of Romans 1 in the United States and abortion is a fruit of this.

How can one make an impact for the Lord against abortion?  I could talk on about voting pro-life and I do and I believe all true disciples must.  How can one vote for a pro-murder politician is beyond me.  I could talk on about the need for true disciples of Jesus to run for political office to make an impact for the pro-life cause.  I could talk about the need for Christians to go to your local murder mills to protest and to preach and to plead with women and men not to kill their babies.  I could talk about the need for the churches to stop being silent about abortion.  Preach on abortion, talk about the need to end abortion, pray for sinners to repent and believe the gospel and turn from their wicked sins.

For all of us, I point to the biblical truth of praying for the end of abortion.  I do pray that we would pray, plead, preach, and protest but above all pray!  Pray for the Lord to end abortion.   Pray for Him to save the staff and “doctors” involved in murdering unborn babies.  Pray for pro-life groups to be strong, to preach the gospel, to help women who have become pregnant to see that murder should not be an option.  Pray for the Lord to raise up preachers of the gospel who will preach against abortion and turn women (and men) from the murdering of babies.

1 Timothy 2:1-7 is my bases for all this:

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

We are winning the war over the pro-murder groups.  The pro-life movement in the United States is strong.  Granted, the federal government (especially under the pro-murder Democrats) has provided billions of dollars toward pro-murdering groups but the Lord is on our side.  The Lord is for life.  He created us in His image (Genesis 1:26-27) and we seek to murder babies who likewise are created in His image.   The pro-life movement must preach the gospel realizing that the hope for those involved in murdering babies is that Jesus saves from sin (Luke 19:10).  So many in the pro-life movement go and protest with an eye on earning merit from God (Isaiah 64:6).  I remind you again that our “works of righteousness” do not save (Titus 3:5-7).  We must preach the gospel that Jesus saves sinners and we are chief (1 Timothy 1:15).

For now, let us pray earnestly for the Lord to end abortion.  I do pray we preach, plead, and protest but oh that we would pray for sinners to be saved (Romans 10:1), that the Lord would raise up laborers for His harvest fields (Matthew 9:37-38) and that we would pray for the end to abortion.

Oh Lord grant this for Your glory!  In Jesus’ name!

Here Is An Example of A God-Hater (Romans 3:10-18)

Here is a video from brother Tony Miano preaching outside of an abortion clinic in Portland, Oregon.  A guy walks up and attempts to “preach” to Tony and shows his hatred for God (Whom he claims does not exist).  This video resembles so many people today who love their sins, love the gods they have created whether their minds or some other false god.  This is why we must preach the true gospel of repentance (Acts 2:38-39; 3:19-20; 17:30-31).  The gospel can turn God-haters into God-worshipers.

Brief Thoughts on the Lincoln Movie and Abortion Rights

I am a bit late comer to the movie Lincoln by Steve Spielberg.  The movie is based loosely upon the book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Goodwin.  The book highlights how Lincoln surrounded himself with men who were not like him, men who often believed differently than he did over issues.  Goodwin makes the point that President Lincoln did this to give him men who would not be “yes” men but would challenge his thinking over key issues regarding his own leadership and decisions as well as how to lead the nation once the Civil War ended.  This is clearly seen in the movie as Lincoln and his advisors wrestle with the issue regarding the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution that would abolish slavery.

Overall the movie does a great job of showing the political and moral issues facing Lincoln at this time.  At one point, Lincoln tells his advisors that while he felt he was right to sign the Emancipation Proclamation, he felt that this would not stand the test of the Supreme Court once the Southern states ended their rebellion.  He felt that the Congress needed to act while the South was in rebellion in order to pass the 13th Amendment.  Lincoln feared the Court would overturn the Emancipation and the South would vote against the 13th Amendment.  He was correct in this view.  It is an interesting dialogue.

The problems I had with the movie are: the language.  The movie used several profanities.  While it may be historically true that curse words were used around Lincoln and by him at times, nonetheless Union officers were ordered not to use profanity and were subject to court-martial for using profanity.  Why then would Lincoln approve of profane language when he himself ordered his own military men to not use profanity lest they face trial?  Hollywood tends to add or delete things that they want in a historical context and so they had to add several curse words that blasphemed God and brought shame to His name.

I did appreciate the struggle that the movie presented with Lincoln and his staff regarding the issue of abolition.  Lincoln stated that the Emancipation had released slaves only in the rebellious states (the CSA).  He knew that after the war, the Southern states would want their “property” returned to them and Lincoln had issued the Emancipation using his war powers in which he stated that slaves and all other property were now to be confiscated by the Union since the South was at war with the North.  He knew that this was in excess of his powers as President and he knew the Supreme Court would likely side with the South over the issue of their property being returned once the Civil War ended.  It was imperative then that the 13th Amendment be passed by the free States before the South came back into the Union.  This movie shows that struggle.

While I am not convinced entirely of the historical accuracy of the film, I do think that the movie captures an important moment in American history.  I am convinced the Civil War was largely an unnecessary war in the sense that slavery would have likely ended without bloodshed.  Thousands upon thousands died in the Civil War and this fact cannot be ignored.  Being a southerner, I am not convinced that the South was fighting entirely for slavery (although that was an issue).  I believe the South would have likely struggled even without the Civil War.  The United States would have grown into the West with the West going free and the South would have been forced into a small corner.  To trade with the Europeans, the South would have faced political pressure to abolish slavery.  Even the Confederate Constitution stated the following in Section 9:

The importation of negroes of the African race, from any foreign country, other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.

While it did not abolish slavery in the South, it was making sure that it did not spread.  The next section states:

Congress shall also have power to prohibit the introduction of slaves from any State not a member of, or Territory not belonging to, this Confederacy.

In other words, slavery would end.  I am not convinced a war needed that to happen.  Nonetheless, Southern views regarding Africans needed to change.  CSA President Jefferson Davis stated about the African race:

“My own convictions as to negro slavery are strong. It has its evils and abuses…We recognize the negro as God and God’s Book and God’s Laws, in nature, tell us to recognize him – our inferior, fitted expressly for servitude…You cannot transform the negro into anything one-tenth as useful or as good as what slavery enables them to be.”

Davis even quoted from the Bible to back up his views regarding the issue of slavery:

“[Slavery] was established by decree of Almighty God…it is sanctioned in the Bible, in both Testaments, from Genesis to Revelation…it has existed in all ages, has been found among the people of the highest civilization, and in nations of the highest proficiency in the arts.”

Such views were the failure of Bible teachers to truly proclaim the gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15) and acknowledge Galatians 3:25-29.  Godly abolitionists fought to get the Church to stand up against slavery and many in the South did not.  Just as many in the modern abolition movement are calling the Church to preach the truth about the unborn humans who are being denied their right to life just as the slaves were in the 19th century in the United States.  We must remember that the Southern plantation owner said that his Africans were not humans but his property.  They had no rights.  Is this not what we hear from the modern pro-abortion folks who claim that the Government has no right to touch their bodies, the unborn have no rights and are property of that woman?  We who oppose abortion must use the same arguments against abortion that slave abolitionists used in fighting the lies of pro-slavery people.  God help us.

Pray for the End of Abortion

Today is the Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.  It also is 40th anniversary this week of the infamous Roe v. Wade that made abortion legal here in the United States.  Since that time countless millions of babies have been slaughtered in their own mother’s womb.  Nearly all of these murdered children were done so out of the greed and sin of their own mothers and the greed and sin of an industry that makes millions of dollars off their killing facilities.

What we are seeing in our nation is a shirt toward pro-life.  No doubt the language of pro-life simply is refreshing as compared to pro-choice.  Pro-choice sounds vicious.  It sounds as if you are pro-murder (which you are).  Pro-life sounds happy, appealing, and sounds like the heart of God because it is.  Life is precious to God since He created life (Genesis 1:26-28) and God called human life “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

Yet the fight to end abortion must go forth.  We must not be happy with research showing more people are today pro-life than ever before for the research also shows that most people still believe abortion should be legalized and allowed.  Americans are highly individual and believe that each person should be allowed to do what they like so long as they are not hurting another person.  Yet in this case, the mother is murdering her unborn human being child.  How is that not harming another person?  Abortion rights activist like to try to make an unborn baby not a human.  They deny that a baby in the womb has any rights and should be treated as property of the mother until she has the baby.  Ironically, in the United States a person can be charged with double murder if they murder a woman who is also pregnant.  So on the one hand the courts see a baby as not a child when it comes to abortion but a child when it comes to murdering of the pregnant woman.

What the Church needs to do is to continue to preach against our human narcissism.  We all want our flesh fulfilled.  This leads to all kinds of sins and all kinds of divine laws being broken.  After all, it was desire that gives birth to sin in the first place (Genesis 3:6; James 1:12-15).  Women want to have sex and they want to have sex without constraints of any kinds especially an “unwanted” pregnancy.  Our culture is bent on self-pleasure while ignoring the effects of our choices.  God designed sex to be between one man and one woman in marriage (Hebrews 13:4).  Marriage is the proper place for sex and for pro-creation (Genesis 1:28).  In marriage and in marriage alone does a man and woman feel the weight of sin at our nakedness come off (Genesis 2:25).  Not so with sex outside of marriage which often carries pleasure but much guilt.  Pornography does not satisfy as marriage does since pornography is an illusion to the real thing that God intended in marriage.  The Church needs to preach and practice biblical marriages (Ephesians 5:22-33).  Marriage, in a biblical context with Jesus as Lord, is wonderful!  I know first hand from that fact!

Lastly, the Church must continue to preach salvation through Christ.  Only when men and women are born again do they seek holiness and to live godly lives in this present evil age (Titus 2:11-14).  The message of salvation is what will turn our nation (John 3:3).  Salvation is the greatest work of the Church (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21).  Our passion should be to preach salvation to every person praying for the Spirit to open their eyes to their sinfulness and then (and only then) we will see a radical transformation in our culture.  The United States is a culture of death.  We can only change that through preaching the gospel.  The end of abortion will not occur simply because we elect a pro-life President or a pro-life Congress but it must happen with the preaching of the gospel that sets sinners free.  This will see abortion doctors and abortion nurses and abortion advocates and women who have experienced abortions turning away from their sins to the forgiveness that only comes in Christ Jesus (Acts 13:38-39).  There is hope that our God will move in power and turn our nation from sin toward the truth of Christ.

Let us pray that abortion will end and that God will be glorified through the protection of all human life.

“We Must Keep Our Children Safe” Unless….

President Obama today argued that we need reform in the United States regarding the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.  He argued that we as a nation must do what we can to protect our children and keep them safe.

Unless it comes to abortion.  There President Obama and the entire Democratic Party stands for Romans 1:18-32.  They approve of the wretched practice of murdering babies inside of their own mothers.

Someone said it best today, if you want to end abortion, require the doctors to use guns to blow their brains out instead of a vacuum and then abortion would end (since it was performed by a gun you see).

Face the facts, Obama is a hypocrite to call us to protect our children and do all this possible to keep them safe while he endorses murdering institutions such as Planned Parenthood and other murder clinics.

Exodus 20:13 Mr. President.

Abortion is Doomed by a Higher Law

It was William Seward, the United States secretary of state under Abraham Lincoln, who said that slavery was doomed by a “higher law than the Constitution, the law of God.”  Seward understood that slavery would fail because of the law of God opposing slavery based on race.  Clearly racism was a sin and God would end the awful, destructive practice of slavery of the African race.

We modern abolitionists of abortion believe the same.  Our war is not a war against a law.  Our war is not a war against our culture.  Our war is against murder.  God will dispose abortion because abortion violates not the laws of the United States of America or the laws of New Zealand or the laws of China but the law of God.  Murder is not just and abortion is nothing more than murder (Exodus 20:13).

Let it be known that we modern abolitionists of abortion desire to fight abortion with the same passion the abolitionists fought against slavery before the American Civil War.  We believe that all people: black, red, white, yellow, etc. deserve the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  We believe that every person including the handicapped are made in the image of God and are precious in His sight.  We believe that abortion is nothing more than the murder of unborn people and should be completely abolished in all forms.
